Back before Turner Classic Movies, this was the go-to channel for uncut, commercial free, old-school Hollywood gems, hosted by Bob Dorian and Nick Clooney (George's father). Nowadays, AMC has become unrecognizable.

Tim Conway at the Emmys is priceless. In my "magazine section," one or two British imports may have sneaked in.

Oops: The Circus magazine depicted is clearly not from 1970. My bad. And PS: Due to copyright issues I had to use a live version of American Woman by The Guess Who.

Re-posted with corrections. Many aborted attempts to get this through the copyright cops. This version is shorter than originally intended because I had to drop two songs. But I think the end result is OK.

This is great!
Always great memories watching these vids. Sometimes they are difficult memories. My father, a Korean War veteran, he was at the Chosin reservoir. I have great clarity of him glued to the TV every night, consumed with the Vietnam War. He was very quiet and depressed for some time after the fall of Saigon. Always enjoy your work Fred. Thanks again
70’s sucked, inflation vietnam still going on bad cars bad hair and after ‘73 bad music👎
So many memories that month. All the excitement building for The Bicentennial, I graduated HS, but, was having mixed emotions. Happy to be done with school, but, sad because I loved high school and all my friends. We went on vacation with my best friend and his family to Myrtle Beach, which was a blast. I remember coming home, crashing in my bed and it finally hit me, what am I going to do with my life? I want a car, A good job, and what do I want be? College? Trades? Funny thing is, I retired this past March after 48 years of full time work,, and I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up! Lol
Those TVs though!!! 😂😂
Bob Hope would sell anything "they" paid him to sell. And people learning how to use microwave ovens. They actually did cook things for more than 30 seconds.
I was a freshman in high school…14 years old.
I was 12 and it was freaking awesome
I wasn’t born until 69 but kinda wish I was around to see this.
Could this short video have ended any other way. Thank you for the respectful ending.
A friend of mine lived out in Seattle, Washington. A good friend of his was Bruce who was a bus-boy at Ruby Chows. Bruce taught my friend Skip, (along with Jesse, Taki, et.al.) Jeet kun do. You know how the story goes from here.
Oh wow! The Lone Ranger! Brings a tear to my eyes!
Summer '76 wouldn't be complete without Gary Wright ... God Bless America
Fred, I just now stumbled onto this video of yours. I don't know why I missed this one but thanks Fred. Wow, I didn't realize how many groups that were gone from the 1960s. I remember almost 100% of their songs with the exception of one. The group of the crazy guy with the ring of fire on his head I had never seen or heard of until now. I don't think I missed out on anything with that band. We definitely had the best era of music/bands.
The ABC Monday Night Movie featured looks like a precursor to Robocop that would come out 11 years later - I was 5 in 1976 and vaguely remember celebrating the Bicentennial going to an outdoor drive in theater with my family with snacks and watching fireworks
good one !!
Nine years later Frank Reynolds and Peter Jennings would share anchor duties on ABC World News Tonight
I was 10 going on 11 …not a care in the world hanging out on the stoops in Brooklyn
I miss David Brinkley
I was 10 years old, and I remember my mother going to the disco and leaving me and my two brothers at home. I would beg my brothers to stay awake until our mother came( usually 2am). we watched the honeymooners, but they always fell asleep, I was scared waiting for my mom to return 😢.
Watching this is good for my soul!
Thin Lizzy 👍
Fame written by John Lennon
Back when children could play out on the streets with the ‘fire hydrants’ on in the summertime having the fun of our lives. When the entire family was sitting at the television watching ‘soul train’, ‘Star Trek’, ‘Charlie Broen’, and all kinds of family oriented programs. When kids respected their school teachers and cops, when the ice cream truck came to the neighborhood, when ‘hot wheels’ cars were fun, when ‘bell bottom’ pants were hip. Before the politicians became totally corrupt and sold out America. 🤷🏼
1 Adam 12, before the cops were militarized
Cronkite was the last real journalist
Every once in a while, Elizabeth Montgomery's southern belle accent would slip out like when she said "color". :)
Fantastic job, Fred! I was 19, and what a wonderful year 1976 was!
I would fly -Judy- I mean National. Also, NOBODY recognizes Groucho Marx--?
We are approaching the Sestercentennial (250 years). It would be nice if Americans could put aside their petty differences and show the kind of Patriotism we had back 1976. I remember the Tall Ships in the Hudson, the Fireworks ... I agree with the other comments. It wasn't a perfect time in our history... but I would go back in a heartbeat and leave today's insanity behind.
This was before we found out Travolta likes it up the old Hershey Highway! 💩💩💩💩💩
In 1975 if I told you we would have a man running for president who was convicted of sexual assault, convicted of 34 counts of fraud, was heard on tape of saying he likes to grab women by their genitalia, cheated on all three of his wives, paid a porn star for sex, had an affair with a beauty queen, was found guilty of running a sham university, was caught stealing from his own charity and had to shut it down and incited an attack on our capital where 5 people died and over 150 capital police officers were injured and some people were supporting him you would of called me crazy.
i found this movie( Squirm)in the on demand section of my iptv provider..its 1hr and 32 mins.Thinking about checking it out.
Bill O’Reilly!!😮
I was 13 years old in 1976...Those were the best years of my life and while it wasn't perfect by any sense of the imagination, America was 1000 percent better in 1976 than today.
Watching that Bingo Long movie in a drive in theatre in '76 was like being a King. The following year we got Petes Dragon. Oh yeah.
Best day/month/year ever.
All the 70's and 80's babies; wasn't it a great time?
For the record, I believe it really happened.
I graduated in '76, absolutely the best time
I would be turning 12 the following month, was in 7th grade at our junior high. Times were changing, classes were a bit more difficult than in grade school, the first hints of racial unrest in our town. Great music, and all the cute girls at school. My friend showed me a Playboy magazine he got from another friend's older brother. I remember in health class learning about drugs for the first time, and how Janis and Jimi died. I remember the first US economy cars coming out. Kent State earlier in the year. I remember learning how to run again after getting my leg out of a full cast for 3 months earlier in the year.
Thank you for the trip down memory lane. I turned 13 that year and lost my dad that year. 💔 I enjoyed the memories!! It feels like so long ago, but I wouldn't trade those years for anything! ❤
You're welcome!
I was born in December 1958. I really enjoy looking at what my parents were looking at and watching while enjoying their 1st of 5 children.
I graduated HS in May - hi hopes 4-the future. Now 1/2 century later, things are worse & darker than ever.
Thank you very much😊
You're welcome, Jan.
Thank you very much
Wow! Going back in time that I remember well. Everything and everybody was in a festive, celebratory, patriotic mood. How far we have fallen 😢
1976! Everyone smoked… I mean, everyone! Yeah honey, you can flick my Bic!
Great decade. I was little, but I remember how much better it was than anything after. To date.
god I loved july 1976
